I have definitely become better at handling problems---nothing is really an emergency except loss of gas. Even when I totaled my car and broke my arm the other day I used my calm slow breathing to keep it together at the scene and after.
The biggest unexpected benefit is the great friends I've met |

![]() Thank God my attornies had no such fantasies. ![]() Anyway, as soon as I went into that pre dive mode of checking gear, the matter slipped from my mind.

It was a time before insurance liabilities, lawsuits or beauracratic regulation of the "sport". Guerrilla divers didn't need "Buoyancy Compensator Vests". In fact, "Anyone who needs a BC deserves to drown" was a popular adage. Exploration and the Hunt came first, excitement and fun followed. Safety was the stepchild of fitness, good reflexes and a cool head. This was a time of great Adventure http://www.sfdj.com/dive/deep.html Last edited by Splitlip : 07-19-2008 at 09:24 PM. |

More self confidence & self reliance. Tons of new friends & dive buddies. that travel to warm exotic locations is a good change from museums & art upon occasion. Working on conquering my fear of dark murky water.
Learned to only date divers, non diving guys don't understand. the 70% of the planet thatt is under water is peaceful, quiet and is way more interesting in person than on a tv screen.
