Worked on a live-aboard?

Has anyone here worked on a live-aboard?

What were your experiences?

Thanks.

I haven't personally but I have 2 divers I know who have. One did it for 2 weeks as a fill-in for someone on vacation. Another is an instructor who does it for a living (comes back here on vacations).

The fill-in guy: Loved it but as he said, you dive then move tanks and clean then shove food in your mouth and repeat. 4 to 6 dives a day. Tiring but he really loved it. Start at 6:00am and finish at 9:00pm. Two nights a week you have to DM night dives.

Full time instructor: He loves it and has been doing it for several years. He has worked for several companies and says pretty much what the guy above said. However, he has worked for a couple companies where the boss was a jerk (like any job). He works for a with a company for a year and then goes to another company to change the dive sites and stay fresh. He also said the pay sounds horrible but since while on the liveaboard he has no expense that he actually makes out in the end very nicely.

Not much help since it's not first hand info but I'm bored and posting on everything tonight.

Working on a live-aboard sounds really amazing at first thought. Then I realize that I may begin to get really tired of it very soon.

Not for long!

"Tonight, Monsieur, you may choose from three entrees. Macaroni and cheese with tuna, Beenie Weenies with real Ball Park franks, or Dorito Casserole."
