Lost my first knife

I did a shore dive here in Venice, Florida yesturday viz was aweful but I did find a bunch of sharks teeth overall the dive was good. Although when I came up and started taking my gear off I realized that I lost my brand new titanium knife. I am sooo mad. Any suggestions on a good knife that holds in place?

Sorry to hear about losing the titanium knife. Ouch!!!

I carry the UK Fusiler Dive Knife Rust-resistant, and it locks in place. Easily released with one hand.

Vercingetorix, when you loose your fusiler, please send me your empty sheath. I have a fusiler that I found last year on the reef. Since I don't have the sheath it is doing light duty as a letter opener :-)

I'm guessing the diver had it in hand (perhaps while well above the reef) and dropped it.

Meanwhile, I'll sell you my sheath for the low, low price of $25, plus shipping, plus PayPal fees.

Jenn, don't go crazy buying expensive dive knives. They are going to get lost (not seated in sheath, broken straps, etc.)

The UK fusiler is a good low cost knife. UK Fusiler Dive Knife, Dive Knives, Underwater Kinetics, UK Fusiler Dive Knife

If you want something smaller, try the Remora. Remora BC Knife, Dive Knives, Underwater Kinetics, Remora BC Knife

When I am spearfishing, I carry a stiletto for dispatching large fish. My backup knife has a 3 inch blade. If I am not hunting, the stilletto stays at home and I carry two small kives (<3" blade). Some people prefer shears over knives. It all depends on what you are comfortable with and what the intended uses will be.

My primary is a Riffe Silencer RIFFE INTERNATIONAL / Accessories - page 5
My backup is a folding knife Scubamax Titanium Folding Knife, Dive Knives, Scubamax, Scubamax Titanium Folding Knife

There is a school of thought out there that states: "You should carry the cheapest knife possible". That way, when you drop it, there is no need to risk injury by swimming down to the bottom to retreive it.

a little white water rafting trick is to wrap the knife with a rubber band at the sheath/knife conection. it will make the conection more positive and not interfeer with acccessing it. In 14 years on the river as a guide I never lost a knife!!!

I tend to use cheap cut off steak knives as I've lost some expensive dive knives before and the saying, never again comes to mind.

Thanks for the tip. Being a new diver I had not thought about losing the knife especially so soon. Now that I experienced it I will not be buying an expensive knife again. I will be purchasing a much cheaper knife this time that when if I lose it I will not be so heart broken. lol

Jenn. The knives I normally wear cost me about $5.00 each, with sheath. Of course, at 5.00 per I have not lost one yet.
