If you are smart, make multiple copies of both your C card and your inside passport page and stick one copy in all of your bags.

The price is probably due to the time involved in varifying the certification. That would be my guess.

Wouldn't you think they'd have a database with your picture? Seems they could just print another card. I think they realize that you don't have any choice.

My wallet was stolen last year with one of my C-cards in it. I contacted PADI and explained and they sent me a replacement for free without me having to send them another photo. It arrived in a couple of days.

If you did your c-card electronically, I'd assume they have it in their databases. In the old days, we had to send pictures that were laminated to the back of the card.
