nice one...
how about when your employer awards you with an all inclusive trip to New York and you toss it in the trash because it cannot be cashed in or traded for a trip to warmer water ![]()

Now I am usually the last one to stick up for NYC (Go Sox) but you do realize that NYC is on the water and there is diving to be done there. God forbid it is in warm cold water. A tru adict would not pass up any oppertunity to dive anywhere any time! My personal example is as follows. I did my OW cert dives in 7mm wet suit in 42 degree water in early May so that I would be able to get my C card as early as posible to get the most out of my first summer of diving. I have convinced my wife to go on a dive trip this weekend to the ME coast even though she is not a diver. She will bubble watch and maybe snorkle but this is definatly my trip (shhhhhh dont tell her!). HEllo My name is Brian and I am an adict. It has been 4 months since I was dry.....One dive at a time, one dive at a time! Last edited by Rileybri : 08-22-2008 at 10:24 AM. |

Got it BAD
Hi my name is (um) "Vegas", and I am an addict. It's been 18 months or so since I've stayed dry. I'm currently trying to figure out how to beg, borrow, pawn, sell on ebay, or steal the last couple of hundred dollars I need to get on a week long trip on a live-aboard in the Bahamas next month. (Do you think my boss will believe that I had a relative die there, and I have to attend services?) I think of my work-week as an extended surface interval. I equalized when I ride down on an escalator. I worry about how quickly I'm ascending when I ride up in an elevator. I will *never* admit to myself, my family, a higher power or anyone else exactly how much I have spent on my gear. I consider a man's sac rate as an important factor in deciding whether or not to date him. I went white water rafting last weekend and when they were telling us what we're suppose to do if we get tossed out of the boat all I could think was "Wait! they're going to want me to HOLD MY BREATH under water!! Oh NO!" We went on a hike through a cave and I kept trying to picture what it would look like fully submerged. Any body of water I see I wonder what it looks like at the bottom. I find the scent of neoprene intoxicating .... and over-dosing on it (like walking into a fully loaded dive shop) makes me lose control of my wallet. ...and finally....I do not understand these strange people around me that seem content to be on the surface all the time. I just didn't get it....but my scuba instructor explained it. "Vegas"...he said with a tear in his eye, "they're just broken. They're broken people...you can't fix them....just pray for them." .... and so I do. Thank you for letting me share. ![]()
