Who thinks that they already have the best job in the world?

Many of us have read the story concerning the global pursuit for the "Best Job in the World" (see Australia offers 'Best Job in the World').

My question is, who in the ST community...

1. Thinks that they already have the best job in the world?

2. Why?

They say jealousy is an ugly thing... Well, I didn't get hit with the ugly stick. I got hit with the whole dang tree....

I am a Deputy Sheriff... I play with guns, cool rifles, and drive a really fast car(152 mph). I have a partner with 4 legs(which is faster than 2 legs). His name is K9 Baron and is certified in narcotics, patrol, and SWAT tactics/deployments.... I fly planes & helicopters..

However, I think foo2 has the greatest job, so I am very ugly right now...

I get to be outside every day and no two days are the same. I can't complain about what I do. Plus I have some really decent bosses (they can't compete with Foo2's bosses in cuteness) and we have dogs in our office.

I can say I have one of, if not the best job in the world. I'm a firefighter/paramedic. I have an incredible schedule that allows me to work two days a week, even if it's for 24 hours at a time. We end up working once every fourth day. No two days are the same for me. Every call is different and presents it's own unique set of challenges. We get to break things and people love us for it. We get to play with the equivalent of a huge squirt gun. I get to ride around in a firetruck with a group of incredible people. We laugh...a lot. The people are like another family. I get to spend my days and nights hanging out with people that I know would give their lives to save my own. They also never let me forget how important family is. That includes the one at work, but more importantly the one at home. I have the satisfaction of knowing that the decisions I've made and the things I've done have allowed for someone to have another day (or weeks, months, years) to enjoy their life and their family. I've gotten to give a family the opportunity to say their final good byes and not have someone spend their last moments alone. I'm constantly reminded of how important life is, how important I can be to those around me and most of all how quickly it can change in an instant.
But most of all, I can wake up for work and be happy that I have to go in. I worked last night and I'm off until Sunday now. I'm looking forward to Sunday so that I can go back into work again.

Shane

I used to have the best job in the world (Firefighter/Medic) but that was looooong time ago and many surgeries in the past.

Right now I'm just grateful to have a job, it pays the bills and allows for a few toys.

I get paid to workout, play games with gym members, talk to people, and surf the net 8 hours a day. The only thing that would make it better is the $, but that is with every job.

My job is the best! I get paid to ride a motorcycle, talk to people, and a flexible schedule. I work outside (after retiring from the Navy as a submarine sailor this is important to me), have good pay, great benefits, and can retire at 55. It doesn't get much better than that to me.
