Undercurrent - is it worth it?

I've outgrown the two most popular / visible dive magazines which strike me as 90% cover to cover advertisements. I while back I recieved a mailer from undercurrent magazine. Are there any undercurrent subscribers that can comment on whether it is worth the $$ or not??

Thanks

I'm new to diving so I enjoy all of the magazines but what I like about Undercurrent is the lack of advertising/pretty pictures. It is all relevant information presented in a very clear format. Once you sign up you'll also have access to the online member's area. This gives you access to all archived articles. It just seems more "real" to me but I don't really know how to explain it. If I had to chose only one magazine to subscribe to it would be Undercurrent.

Hope that helps you decide - Julie

I think if you search old threads that most folks that have gotten it enjoyed it, but didn't think it was worth it to renew.

I got one copy once and didn't think it was worth the subscription based on the amount of content in the one copy I got.

I subscribed and liked reading it, but to be honest it's not worth what they ask for it.

I agree. In my opinion, the days of printed media are numbered. It's kinda sad as there are nice things about a magazine but there are too many other sources of information that are more complete, more up to date, and free.

I have been subscribed to Undercurrent for about 6 years....and use both the print and online service to research dive locations around the world. In fact I just got some very informative info about Bangka and probably will go there instead of Bali in November...I think it is worth it.

do not pay full price, For some reason I got a postcard in the mail for $15 subscription to the print. I do not know why, but it happened twice.

I, too, subscribed at the intro rate and then didn't renew. I think it's a nice mag for the intro rate but the renew rate is a bit much IMO. It's one additional data point when researching a resort, however, like others have said a search here can get you as much or more information.
