So you wanted to be a commercial diver?

Sonar detects object size of jet engine in Hudson - Yahoo! News

"The NYPD says the currents are too strong to put a robotic device into the murky water to confirm whether the object is the engine. Divers are in the water trying to examine the object."

So lets see..40 degree water, zero vis and strong current to go down 60' and try and figure out if the object they found is really the missing engine from the downed plane. Sounds like fun!

It does sound like fun! I thought from the title you were going to post something unpleasant, like the one about the guy who got a stinging jellyfish pumped into his warm water suit after it got sucked into an intake. 40 degrees, low vis, and current sounds pretty typical to me.

Not for me. I don't enjoy zero vis.

I would rather be looking for engines in the Hudson than retrieving bodies from the Kursk Body search starts on Kursk - Europe, World - The Independent

Kursk recovery operation - Bellona

350 feet deep.Water just above freezing,a nuclear reactor. That must have been a bunch of fun.

As many of the previous posters have stated, that doesn't sound too different from a dive in Michigan. I guess one man's hell is another man's heaven.
