Gettin' stoked

I mentioned before that I scored a lightly used Dive Rite ABS plate for my daughter. Well, I rigged it with 1 piece harness, 4 d-rings, crotch strap, scooter ring, stainless buckle and Remora knife. Weighs in at a wopping 2.75 #. The plate by itself is damn near neutral.

As it is plastic I drilled a couple holes with a 3/8" paddle bit to mount a DSMB sleeve. I figure it will be perfect for her with an 80 CF HP steel tank.

Oh, and I ordered an 18# Mach V wing today. Along with a mini STA (8oz).

As soon as it warms up and I can lose the 3mil, figure this will be my summer rig. I mean my daughter's.

Do tell what a young lady needs a knife like that for? I don't have a knife yet.

Why, to protect yourself from male dive buddies, of course!

You had better be diving with some kind of cutting tool. (I have 3)

People can die from entanglements. Cutting tools are also used to cut you or somebody out of their harness in an emergency. Shears are good. Does not need to be a knife. Knife is good if the line or rope is around something. It can saw.

Homeboy is very witty. Good strategy, I'll get my knife right away.

Seriously, though. There is monofilament (fishing line) on a lot of the NC wrecks. I know several people, me included, who have been caught in it. You really *need* at least one cutting device (shears or a knife) if you are going to dive on the wrecks.
