Last day in the states...

for a long time, I figure... 6 months minimum, possibly longer (much longer?)

October of last year, my wife and I decided to take some time away from the states and become Scuba instructors... Tomorrow, we are leaving to Utila, Honduras to get our Instructor certs, and follow through with our Master Scuba Diver Trainer cert as well. Andy Phillips, of Utila Dive Center (Go Pro Utila|PADI IDC|Divemaster & Instructor course|Utila and Roatan|Bay Islands Honduras Central America - Home) has been exceptionally helpful in getting us ready to come down there, I can't imagine how difficult this would have been without his help and guidance (we probably sent 100+ emails back and forth), and he was always awesome with replys.

In December, 2007, we moved back to San Antonio to live with my wifes parents in order to save some money. Took a decent pay cut, but the savings in monthly bills more than made up for it. At any rate, we saved enough money to pay for our training and live self sufficient for some time down there. Hopefully we'll make a couple bucks in tips and instruction to be able to maintain some cash reserves...

If anyone is planning on heading to Utila within the next 6 months to a year, you'll have to look us up!

Please keep in touch my friend. I had some kind of chest crud going on over the weekend or I would have hooked up with you guys for lunch. I hope you haven't been going out of your minds trying to get things wrapped up, I know I would have.

You guys will make awesome instructors...there are going to be some lucky students out there. If you can, hook us up with some photos from time to time.

I figure our students will get the best of both worlds... Diamond is ultra relaxed about diving and I am all about the science behind it...

It is good to see someone "check out" of the grind and do something they are passionate about. I keep telling myself I will retire after the next big score, but that never seems to happen. Kudos and be safe.
