Classes of Air?

I just took my Nitrox tank for a fill at a new LDS (I just moved to a new area), and when talking about potential carbon contamination the LDS owner assured me that his air was "RAted Class E 2" which he said was the highest rating and is used for Scuba.

Can someone elaborate on these Air Ratings?

Thanks

There are some data tied to the links on the right. These may give you an idea concerning the specifications for air of the differing grades.

The term the guy was trying to think of, and failing, apparently, is "Grade E", which is the grade scuba air must meet.

Partial Pressure blended Nitrox must use "o2-clean" air. Sometimes that grade of air is referred to as "Hyperfiltered", and it uses a modified Grade E standard of cleanliness with respect to hydrocarbons.
