Oklahoma Aquarium Shark Exhibit

At the first of this year (2009) I was contacted by a very talented graphic artist and the Marketing Coordinator for the Oklahoma Aquarium, Greg Tatum. They were beginning the process of building a fantastic new shark exhibit and were interested in some photos that I had taken at the oil rigs surrounding the Texas Flower Gardens for use with the graphics they wanted for the new exhibit.

Well.... the exhibit is almost finished and Greg has emailed me with what they have so far. The exhibit looks fantastic, this will be a huge attraction for the aquarium and help people learn and understand more about sharks and their environment.

Greg has taken parts of some of my photos and incorporated them into his graphic art to try to represent the experience of diving the oil rigs and reefs with sharks in their environment. I believe he has done an excellent job.

Here are a few of the original photos to give you an idea of what he had to work with.....

Here is what the new Oklahoma Aquarium Shark Exhibit looks like so far...... The diver silhouette is Illini_Fan from the ST forum.

I'll have it to make it over to Jenks to check it out...Haven't been over to the aquarium in a year or two.

thanks!

Looks great DD! The aquirum here in new orleans has a shark/other fish exhibit that is modeled off of the legs of an oil rig. It is also sponsered by big oil.

It does look awesome! I help out there sometimes as that is where my gf works. I really like what they are doing with that.

Split fins in the open ocean, you're just asking for death!!!

Kidding aside, it looks like an awesome exhibit. I'm jealous you were able to be a part in creating something like that.

I'll have to go check it out when I go do my Saturday gig (feeding/cleaning in the reef exhibit) in a couple of weeks. I usually try to get there a little early to walk around and see what is new and there's been a lot lately. I noticed all the construction over in the shark area but had not ventured over to see what was happening. Go DD!!!
