Where to go in 2010

Ok after much searching and researching the internet on Bonaire, I have ruled it out for vacation in 2010. Before you start slamming, let me give you my reasons.
1. Flights out of Houston are "red eye" flights only.
2. Flights are only once a week. We like to stay 10 to 12 days so much for that.
3. I have spoiled my wife with All Inclusive resorts. Her and the kid love to go the bar and get what ever they want for free. Capt's Don Habitat I think has a AI option , I have emailed them repeatedly and have not had an answer on it.
4. Bonaire seems to really expensive.
I am really looking for spots I can take my by then 11 year old diving. I want to find a place that reefs at 40 feet or less.
We did Roatan last year, been to Cozumel 4 times. So I am asking the folks here who have been to places that I might be able to think about going.

How about Cozumel?....don't do the drift dives or head to Kona, some shallow reefs there and you can do the Manta dive around 35' to 40'....East Timor has lots of diving at 40' of less and it is some of the best in the world.....I know you are not looking to go that far...LOL...But it is great diving

I've been to the Riyu in Nassau, Bahamas twice (all inclusive) and loved it both times. I snorkeled with Stuart's Cove twice and dived with them once. One of the dives with Stuart's Cove was relatively shallow probably 20' or so but the other dive was the top of wall around 90-100'.

I'll probably just head down to Jupiter, West Palm, Boynton, etc. I hate that they're so close, but it's very affordable!

Oh sure keep rubbing it in. Keep it up and I say the rest of us designate you and Splitlip as the official ST hotel in Florida!

try grand cayman-if you go during "low season" its pretty affordable-cobalt coast has an AI add on, sunset house includes full(and i mean full!) breakfast and both have free unlimited shore dives in addition to 2 morning boat dives-and stingray city is really cool!- can't wait to go back, in june!

My wife is a teacher and my kid is in school, so low season is out. Beside from everything I have heard there are not many places for a Jr Open water diver to dive in Grand Cayman.

i had 2 jr divers on boat for 2 consecutive days-they even put a DM in water just for them at no extra charge(only problem is that they ate all the oranges before us grown-ups got back in!) low season includes august(when i went)-the shore dives are definately jr/novice friendly & free with stay

Vlane, you might want to read up in previous threads about SL's man cave decor before you commit to that...

Uh...got a dive buddy for that trip yet SGJ? Hanging with a female dive buddy is much lower maintenance than hanging with a guy, we get to dive longer because we don't suck so much air, and I can teach you some key "re-entry" skills like flirting which you probably haven't practiced in a while. See? No brainer.
