dry mouth
when I go diving I get dry mouth. is this from dehydration? I make sure that I drink water before and after the dive but I still get dry mouth during the dive. I have heard that its because of air under pressure comes out colder. Is there anything that I can do to minimuze this effect... thanks for your help guys.

Here you go... that topic was discussed in some length here. I used the Search button and put in Mouth and got this thread: Drinking (water) While Diving That should answer your questions. |

thank you larry... I apprecite your help. You guys are the best. I just got finished looking up a camel pack. I had no idea what that was. I had to skim through some long threads to get my answer. I would say that sometimes search boxes are not designed at they should be.
I don't like the idea of the capri suns as I have heard that towards the end they allow seawater to enter. YUK! also kind of baggy to carry. I like the candy idea... don't know why I did not think about that. the water mister thingy is the ultimate. Iwould imagine it works well and no worries of choking on a candy... again thanks for all of your help. I'm learning so much and having fun. |

I had the same problem as you and after listening to the advice of the friendly people here, i now make sure i drink plenty of water on the days leading up to when i dive, not just before and after the dive.
It has helped a heap.....the last few dives i have had no dry mouth. Jas. |

before I got my bio-filter (which I love) I did the tongue on the roof of the mouth trick.
I will work more on my hydration.

norine62 got his bio-filter last month and loves it. He had terrible dry mouth during diving. In my case I find that I am often extra-spitty because of having the mouthpiece in my mouth. It is similar to what happens to a lot of kids when they first get retainers or other such dental work. For a period of time they have extra saliva while their mouths adjust to having extra stuff in there.
