Claustrophobia has anyone expierienced it while diving?

I have heard that its possible for someone who does'nt normally feel Claustrophobic to feel some of it while diving.

one example that I can relate to is that my freind who took the OW class with me wanted to try my new Zeagle goggles and see how they fit/work. He did not like them at all. he told me hat they made him feel Claustrophobic. He later ended up getting a pair with clear silicone and more priferal vision. He still complains that he gets the feeling at times. I wonder if anyone can relate in any way?

Ok I guess that excludes all of you cave divers out there.

I have never got the concept of being claustrophobic underwater. You have a total 3D enviroment. I could understand if it was wreck or cave-diving but that is way down the line..........
This is just my opinion.

I will get it a little if i have not done any diving in a long time or in really low visiability, but i ususualy passes pretty quickly. He probably will work his way though it, it is a natural reaction.

The last time I dove I dove with someone who wasn't used to diving in fresh water and she had to rent a 7 mil suit. To make matters worse she rented a farmer jon. I don't think the suit was to small from the fit, but after the second dive she freaked out. She said she felt like the suit was closing in on her and was not comfortable at all. She dove the rest of her dives with her buddy to the thermal cline with no wet suit and was fine.

I have a hard time with elevators...I'm that claustrophobic.

Underwater, I move in three dimensions! I "fly" through kelp forests. I "soar" over reefs.

My dive parnters get a kick out of me when I hold my arms out underwater like Superman flying.

That said, i have seen new divers panic due to feelings of claustrophobia.

I don't feel an ounce of claustrophobia on land but underwater wrecks give it to me a bit. It may be a good thing because I feel the fear and extra shot of adrenaline seems to highten my senses.

outta air phobia would be enough to unsettle me. I still think about when I got my open water cert. My hose got disconnected from my mouth piece without me knowing it. I went to breath in after I had finished exhaling, and took in a whole bunch of water. Luckly my wife was very near by and I just grabed her octo.

Any type of diving where I can't pull the plug and go right up, gives me the creeps,
But it may just be my lack of bottom time.
