high blood pressure and diving
My brother in law is thinking about wanting to try diving, but he has very high blood pressure which he is trying to treat with medication. He has had some sucess with treating it, but it is pretty high. Should he wait to dive until he gets it totally under control?

Hmmm very interesting. I think he need to have it totally under control before diving. The crazy thing is that he is not in bad shape phyically. He has high blood pressure in his genetics. He also as per the DAN article make sure that his medication is compatible with diving. |

If he really wants to lower the blood pressure, go to the Mayo Clinic's website and obtain the Dash Diet. It will reduce the blood pressure, I've used it personally and I know it works. It's not a diet in the sense of eating less food, it's more like chaning the types of food you eat, and you'll probably end up eating more food on this diet than you do normally. You won't gain weight because of the types of foods eaten, but you'll be full after a meal.

That is the same for me too. I eat right and exercise at least 5 days a week. They do not know why I have high BP, I just do. Once it is under control, you are good to go. If you want to live to dive another day, get yourself straightened out with a doctor first. |
