Shore or Boat
I've been diving a while, in some interesting places and with some interesting people. Just got back from Maui - my wife's first blue water dives and her first boat dives. We started with a couple of organized shore dives to get her used to things and then a few boat dives.
Over the years (and on this trip), I've run into people who refuse to do a shore dive as there is "nothing to see". Personally, I've seen quite a bit, including a great close encounter with a large eagle ray and several green sea turtles last week in Maui. What does everyone else think? |

I think people with that attitude have either not been to the right places, or have more money than brains. Which, there's nothing wrong with that. if I could afford it Id probably never do a shore dive, either.

I've done some great and some not so great shore dives and the same goes for boats. My wife and I were in Hawaii (Oahu) in January and did 2 shore dives and had some great encounters with turtles and all types of reef fish so I can't say too much that is bad. And I've snorkled off the shore when I didn't have a buddy in the Keys and seen lots of stuff there too

I enjoy shore and boat diving. Shore diving sometimes requires more work but there are places in Bonaire like Oil Slick where it can't get much easier.
