Todays Dive. A spot to share your most recent dive.

Went diving today at Alcove II Alki in Seattle WA. It was really beautiful weather, sunny and clear, and even a bit warm for oct in Seattle. Went with my new DB Todd. We finaly found the wreck, I think it is a sail boat, kinda ripped apart, we had very little time on the wreck as we followed the directions from another diver that were way off. Went all the way out to 91ft and zig zagged back up slope until we found it in 56ft of water. Saw a really strange fish? it was about 3 inches long and 1.5 tall. Kinda diamond shaped and brown/tan. First looked like a hermit crab crawling along the bottom. On closer look there was no shell but it was crawling along the bottom?? Wish I had a vid or camera, very strange. Maybe a baby fish??

Please share recent your dive.

Did 3 dives last week out of Lucya in the Bahamas: clear (60+ vis) warm 80+ deg, usual coral and reef fish plus a tophat my wife spotted, lots of sharks, mostly reefs and 1 nurse, and a large lionfish.
Great dives with beautiful scenery.

My first cold water dive was 3 days ago. At Folley Cove in Gloucester, MA. Visibility was about 5 ft, and water was 58*. An experience, but I'll keep with it!

I did one dive at Dutch Springs on Saturday. I was supposed to do three, but it was just too cold. Bottom temp was 50 at 80 feet. I've been there when it's been colder, but it's never felt colder. It's a shame too because viz was good, and the dives I missed were to some of my favorite spots. Oh well, one dive is better than no dives.

Wet suit or drysuit for you? 50 degrees is cold.

Dove in Mt Storm Lake in WV a week ago Sunday. Water was 85 degrees. Visability about 10 feet. Water is so warm because it is used to cool a power plant. Tons of catfish here as well as bass and bluegills. There are platforms for classes as well as some stuff they put down there for divers to look at. They are shutting the plant down for winter maintainance so water will cool off quickly. That was probably my last dive there until the spring.

Did a Project AWARE dive for coral watch and fish ID last weekend in the northern part of Dominica. Sites: Toucari Caves and Cannon Wreck. Water temp: 82. Topside weather: pouring!

It was interesting logging the types and colors of the coral (to watch for bleaching over the years) and actually keeping rough track of the numbers of fish species...maybe it helped that I didn't have the camera with me this time!

Wet suit. The real problem was that it was freezing and windy between dives so there was no way to warm up to go back in. I want to keep diving all winter, so I'm shopping for a drysuit now.

My last dive was at Dutch Springs. It was cold though, once you hit the thermocline it was all over for me. I prefer warmer, tropical water! Plus, my husband was having some issues with his ears, so we called it a day after one dive.

In the water everything looks 33% larger. So, if it happen you see a 10 footer Tiger Shark. Don't worry it's only a guppy...
