Computer on the way!

I'm excited- just placed my order for an Oceanic VEO-250. Slowly but surely I'm getting all my gear!

Well, then you can buy the USB download cable (to download your dive log to your PC) for the discounted price of $50 instead of the regular price of ~$100.

Way to go. You will be very happy with this DC. I've had mine for a while now and think it is great.

Be sure to use the "dive simulator" mode when you get it. It will allow you to run a simulated dive and see all of the display modes / warnings / bells and whistles. Great for getting familar with it initially.

Cool- would you recommend picking up the cable? I didn't even think of it when I placed my order. How important is downloading all the dives to a computer vs. taking the info and writing it in a log?

I picked one up myself. If you have time, call and have them add it to your order to save shipping.

How important is it? It's only as important as you think it is.

I download it using Oceanic's OceanLog software, then I pull it into Tim's Recreational Dive Planner:

Dive Log

That will let you print out actual PADI pages to put in your dive log:

I was wondering this myself...I like filling out my dive book, but I am new so I am just excited about everything dive related. Maybe I just can't see right now how this becomes a pain later on??? It this the main advantage or are there others?

Congrats! I've had my Geo for a few months now and just love how much easier a dive is when all you have to do is pay attention to the little N2 loading bar vs. the old school way of worrying about all the details!
