One of the reasons the Japanese give for this is that the dolphins are affecting the fishing stocks by consuming to many. So if they thin out the dolphin population they should have a larger take of commercially valuable fish.

If you know anything about commercial fishing practices anywhere around the globe it is very obvious that overfishing and targeting breeding grounds of fish populations is the major cause of the problem and has been for 20 plus years...........

Nothing like blaming dolphins for our sins!!

I'm in, this is rediculous, and the Japanese used to be so honorable. It just doesn't make since. Unfortunately it is mostly the government that makes them all look bad.

here is my question what benefit do the japanese get from killing off dolphin? who eats it what is it used for it seems to be a truely pointless tradition, and as for putting it in whale meat packages does anyone eat whale meat either? this is really perplexing.
