i agree, dive season is the only thing longer than NASCAR season. however, i do tend to make fewer repetative dives when its colder do to core temp loss.
Thats my feelings. Get a thick wetsuit and keep the number of repetive dives down and dive all season. Unless I have to cut a hole in the ice I plan on trying to keep diving all through the season this year. If I get to where I can't stand it anymore I'm going to take a drysuit class and rent a drysuit for the really cold water until I can afford to buy one.

OK, then I guess my question becomes "how cold does the water typically get in places like Clear Springs and Athens?" If I spring for the 6/7 mil wetsuit, can I dive all winter or just a couple of extra weeks?

We dove Athens a couple weeks ago (10-21) water temp was 73-74. I was in a 3 mil and by the end of the dive I was a little chilly. It was also windy so I never really warmed up between dives. I think thats it for me until Cozumel in Jan. I'm a wimp

73 in a 3mil and you consider yourself a wimp -- wow, I really have to turn in my man card if those conditions are the criteria for wimpiness

I was in Clear Springs the following week in a 3 mil. Temps were mid to upper 70s above the thermocline (which is where I stayed) and I was OK. Any one have an opinion on the coldest water for a 7mil?
