Blue Springs Review

Hey I went to blue springs today, woke up late in the morn because power went out, so they called me because we were car pooling. There were four of us from UCF, and we met up with two guys from scuba board, Scuba Fool being one of them, and went on the LONG walk to the spring head from the parking lot with all our gear on.

I was trying out my new Mares Dragon which I really liked, except because of the out flow, I had to pull my way down(not enough weight) but when I got down there, to I guess we went a max depth of about 70 feet, I was fine, bubbles in wet suit I guess compressed. It was fairly dark and too cold down there, and I got a bit of vertigo, which may have been compounded by my dehydration, and the cold lol, I was decent tho because for most part I held onto the wall.

Coming back up at 15 feet there is a big dome like rock crevice under an out hanging that me and my buddy filled up with our octo's. took about 500 psi from both us. That was cool, and that was part of our safety stop.

We then floated down the river and drifted back to the swimming area which is much farther than where we entered from, it was nice and relaxing. The day was beautiful nice and sunny, and about 80ish. Water was 72 deg like always, with 15 foot vis, not too good but oh well.

We then went to a seafood place and had lunch. When I got back I took a four hour nap lol, feelin pretty good now!!! It was an awesome day of diving, we were going to make two dives, but we were too cold so decided not to.

Most Florida springs stay a pretty constant 72 all year round

Some springs are 68, like Morrison, I think, is.

72 is a nice temperature for the springs, get yourself a thicker wetsuit!

Yep, the springs from Madison on west are 68 degrees. It doesn't seem like much, but those 4 degrees make a big difference! I have to get back to Blue Springs. It's been a few years since I've been there.
