we are thinking about doing a scavenger hunt dive with our LDS for a fundraiser. right now we're thinking of hiding bottles of wine on the reef and see who can come up with the most. anybody ever done anything like this? any suggestions?

May want to thing of a way to weight them down because if you don't they will be a little positive.

Putting bottles on the reef?
Sounds like you might cause some damage if people hold on to the reef to "grab" the bottles.

Just make sure all of the bottles are accounted for at the end of the hunt. I would hate to think that someone was littering for a fundraiser

it would be at a sight that is mostly sand with patches of coral. so it would be more of a hiding them around the coral, no damage will be involved.

I'd be concerned about the bottles breaking. What about doing it "easter egg hunt" style with numbered golf balls? The numbers can correspond to whatever prizes you want, and you don't have to place them all by hand... a few minutes on the beach with a nine iron, and not even the person "hiding them" will know where they all are.

You can do an "easter egg" hunt..literally.. Done it before. You just drill some holes out of the easter eggs and they'll sink like a rock. Golf balls isnt a bad idea but some (most?) are neutral from my experience

i like the golf ball idea, i would definitely be able to scatter them out with my erratic swing. but that would definitely result in a few being left behind.
