Equipment in cold storage

Room in the basement is a touch dear so I am thinking of storing a lot of my equipment in the (unheated) garage. The problem is that winters around here get a touch nippy. As in -40 C/F for a few days, lots of -20C (-5F) and a few stretches where it gets down to -10 and night and 0 during the day (15F / 32F). Assuming my gear is well dried, is there anything that might get damaged by the extreme cold, prolonged cold, or fluctuating temperatures?

Here is a thread that discussed this in the last couple of days. I don't know if they were as far north as you are though.

Keep anything with rubber or neoprene in the nice house, the cold of your area could harm those parts. If you choose to keep them in your garage, heve them serviced before using

I don't think I would want to store something that far below 0 for any time at all. If it was a day or two I don't think I would worry about it.

warming and cooling parts doesnt sound like a great idea. You may want to keep it more warm.

I don't recommend keeping things that cold, unless your mother-in-law already has a chip on her shoulder, then that'd be o-kay. But for important things like dive gear you should keep 'em atleast warm. You could always do what I did if you're low on room, find a close relative with some extra rooms and keep your gear there (thanks, mom!) Then when you want to go diving you could swing by, pick it up, bring her a card to say thanks. She won't charge storage, and you get bonus points for the card while walking out the door in a hurry!

At the very least, keep your regs indoors! Perhaps your BC, too, if possible.

Other scenarios are well addressed in other recent threads, such as the one linked above.

There is a much better solution...don't store...use it----winter diving is awesome for a multitude of reasons....or hit the southern sites in the USA or Mexico.
