Dive Loot

I finished up my PADI advanced open water dive today and it was a great dive in Sarasota, FL.

I found some stuff that was dropped off a boat not too long ago.
We found a pretty nice grouper pole that looks like it had not been down there too long. The pole was in great shape, but the reel is probably no good since it was exposed to salt water. Although, the reel did turn quite easily still.

Other thins I found that were lost by boaters today:
A monkey wrench - It had been down there for a while probably.
The crank to the location marker - Whoever tossed it in forgot to take the plastic crank off the spool. It was sitting next to the weight at the bottom.

Has anybody else come across anything neat by accident?

My wife is laughing about the 'good condition' comment. She wants me to toss them to avoid tetanus risk. She says they are coated in rust. I admit they might be a little discolored ;-) but I have used them to replace the vanity faucets. One woman's trash is another man's treasure.

Found a nice Kershaw stainless steel lockblade knife this weekend. Of course, I like to dive the local rivers where all the tubers float by....

Diving the river nearby, I've found many many pairs of sunglasses, usually one or two per dive. Not anything worth keeping, but certainly a lot of them. Also two snorkels from the OW dive classes that are done in the river. We also found a bowling ball, and a couple of shopping carts under a bridge, but we couldn't exactly take them with us.

A couple of anchors, a few props, a very nice fishing pole, in a local swimming lake, found $50 on the bottom under the diving platform, a diamond ring-found the gal who lost it and gave it back with a reward.

And the big one: a Bass Boat. It was in 40' of water. We made a project out of it and with the help of 4-100# lift bags raised it. Wasn't in super good shape, but the insurance company paid for that year's diving.
