Talking New Gear

I am about to purschase my 1st set of dive gear and was thinking of starting with 1 of the packages from Scuba Toys.
I was hoping someone could give me their views on the following products which regs you would recomend and should I upgrade computers or stick with the Aeris XR-1?
Also would like a BC to travel with?

Caribbean Value Package

Dacor Talon BC and Aeris A1 Package

Dacor Talon BC and Tusa RS-130 Reg Package

Tusa SCA-343 Console

Mares MC1 RGBM Computer Console

Thanks for your input!!

you didnt post the XR-1 but i believe that is a non nitrox computer so I would upgrade to the XR-2 because of its nitrox capabilities assume that you may go and get your nitrox cert one day (nitrox means it is air and nitrox compatible) and Dacor is no longer a company (took over by Mares so not sure on warrenty/repair issues there). Personally I waited awhile and browsed these forums a ton and dove quite a bit to where I knew what exactly I wanted and then began piece mealing my gear together I do not know if I would go with a package neccesarily, not to say it isnt good, but I would wait a little bit and figure out what you really want. Get some dives under your belt and then figure it out. I would hate for you to buy gear now and then turn around in a couple months and buy more gear because it was not what you wanted or it wasnt functional for you!

thanks for the input

Thanks alot I am not sure about the Dacor Talon bc?
The XR-1 is air only and I figure it won't be more than a year before I am ready to get the nitrox cert. My problem is when I go under I have never even think about how the BC,reg, ect feels compaired to the last one I wore. I'm to thrilled about being under. I have 2 brother-in-laws that just got Certified and need gear, They are both in college (poor college kids) so if & when I decide I want something different I'll give them a deal on what I have and someday I won't have to pay to rent them gear when we go diving

If you know you plan to go Nitrox buy a Nitrox computer now...

I got the similar package and upgraded the reg and computer I have RS240 and SCA343. It was an inexpensive upgrade. For what u get it is worth it..

My brother dives a Talon bc and loves it. I dive a Cressi bc and I love it.
BC..bp/w .. whatever is a personal thing, only you can decide.
I bought inexpensive Dacor regs at first...didn't like 'em. Replaced
them with Zeagles! LOVE them. Expensive lesson. I've got almost
200 dives now and I still dive air and use an air computer. I will
probably never go nitrox...been breathin air all my life and it seems
to work. There is so much conflicting and anecdotal evidence on the
benefits of enriched air, that I just don't feel like messing with it.
Now don't start yellin at me you guys, if you like it I think that's
great, and if your tech diving, even better reasons, but I am
strictly recreational and always get good bottom time and feel
great after diving on air. Best advice I can give is buy good
equipment that YOU like, and you won't have to buy it again
for a long, long time.

well i got the aeris xr 1 and i love it if i wanted to do nitrox i would still keep the xr 1 and just by an air integrated nitrox computer. use both of them if you wanted.
