Im new at this .My question is this .I have fins that require the boots . {cold water fins] Can and does anybody dive with theses down south .I dive up in canada in the cold water with theses ,that was my main reason for the purchase of theses fins .Should I buy a open fin for when I go to bahamas or would thse be fine ?

Most divers use open heel fins everywhere - not just in the cold. There are some that dive full foot fins in tropical - but it is personal preference. I dive my full foot long fins whenever I can get a chance - but there are some instances when I prefer my openheel fins such as a rough shore entry.

I dive the Gulf off Tampa Bay and use open heel fins and 3MM boots all the time. Bought a pair of 3MM neoprene socks to go under my boots when water temps are in the 50's. Also own a pair of short booties but they are a little big for my feet and give me blisters so I never wear them.
Will purchase a pair of full foot freediving fins here in the next couple of months as I would love to do a little free diving. Also my buddy dives and spearfishes in his freediving fins. Loves it. Just throws a 3MM sock on when the water gets chilly. |

I wear boots for a variety of reasons, not just to keep me warm. I tend to get abrasions on my feet or heel when I am using full foot fins, so I find boots more comfortable. Also, they protect your feet when you are walking around on the boat during the SI, from the sun and from foreign objects. I use my boots in warm and cold water. There is no need for you to buy another pair, just preference
