I was reading a debate on NCDivers.com about the pros and cons of negative entries.
Who here here has done a negative entry? Was it intentional? If so, why? Personally, I've never done one but in current I'd think it has some benefits. Of course make sure you do a good pre-dive check.

when i did this the ONE time, the advice given to me was at top (not in the water) inflate your BC, then pull the vent valve without forcing ALL the air out.
For me, without any weights on (or at least minimal) was just enough to put me down to the 15' line quick and painless. |

I usually do negative entries from my boat. I use the backward roll entry off of the gunnel. We do mostly drift diving and this method gets me away from my bouy line so that it does not get tangled around my 1st stage.

Also a reason negative entries are done while drift diving is because depending on the current if you dont go straight down you get swept pretty much off the reef or wreck before you can get down. Saying that I dont think a negative entry is that big a deal but.. i must say that I like to sit there for a 2nd and then me and my buddy can decie to go down at the same time
