Time to dive in North Texas?

I just looked at the water temp at Athens Scuba Park (Clear Springs doesn't have a current temp posted) and it's 50 degrees. All I own at this time is a 3mm wetsuit, booties, gloves and hood. When does the water in this area typically get back into a comfortable range for this thickness of gear? I'm guessing that would be lower 70s.

I would guess around May for a 3mm suit.

I'm planning on making a trip to Athens sometime soon and again to CSSP when my Dry Suit arrives.

Athens will be in the 60s by early April. The only problem with that is, you have to dive Athens..

CSSP is current at around 48 degrees. Lake Murray was 44 two weeks ago. God I love my drysuit. Need dry gloves though. I would say it can warm up to 3mil weather/water by April, all depends on night temps and amount of rain.

Wait a week or so for the air temp to hit 90 and that 50 degree water will feel perfect.

Ah, Sarabella, I remember visiting my first set of in laws in Rochester many years ago. I went to bed with the weather predicting flurries and woke up to see nothing but the tip of my CB antenna sticking out of the snow.

For the price of a 7mil and the weight required to sink me, I could be half way on the money required to buy a dry suit!!

Why dive wet, when you can dive dry?
