During an attempt to simulate pulmonary barotrauma in a scuba diver holding the breath with lungs full of air during decompression (http://www.scubadivingtube.com/play.php?vid=121), the experimenter discovers a technical error. Initially, the model alveolus fails to rupture at an expected pressure differential of approximately 92 mmHg (4 fsw). Decompression is terminated, and a moving shadow is visible near the door of the inner lock of the multiplace hyperbaric chamber, as the experimenter notices that the valve bridging the inner lock of the hyperbaric chamber (the model lung) and the latex membrane (the model alveolus) was not opened before the attempted stimulation. The experimenter comments on his brilliance.
