I have. It was back in the '90's. I can't remember the exact date without looking at my log. It was at New Mexico State University in a pond between Alumni Avenue Residence Hall and the Housing Office. It was a cleanup project as part of Earth Day. We pulled out golf balls, plates, and even a bicycle.

can we define pond here. I know this sounds silly but as my yankee bretherin will tell you a what constitutes a pond in Maine is somthing like. 1000 acres. However here in texas that probialy qualifys as a lake or small sea.

I have dove in many ponds as clean-up projects also dove in a pond to clear out a intake line for the ponds pump system. And if you say 1000 acres then every time I go to the lake I guess I am pond diving.

Yes I am serious about that my grandparents have a place pondfront, on a great pond in Maine it is somthing like 800 acers. Probialy a mile and a half in length, and is 90' at its deepest part.

That said I have dove in some things that were mud holes by comparison.

The English talk about us being across the pond so I guess they think the Atlantic is a pond. In which case I would indeed qualify.

    Good judgment comes from experience.
    Experience comes from bad judgment.

A series of unrecognized mistakes does not constitute experience.

I have a pond, 3/4 acres, that's in my front yard. 20' at it;s deepest, and limited vis, but it's getting wet!

I'd consider it as long as it wasn't slimey with algae

Several ponds on our farm back in Missouri, don't really think I would want to dive in them. Used to swim in them as a kid...vis would be pretty low, and nothing really to see.

Around me the ponds are not something fun to dive in, just about 0 vis and all kinds of nasty stuff in there from cows, pigs, etc. I have done it, but it's not fun.

Are you going to build one for diving? I'm thinking you might since this is the DIY forum and if so I have an idea that maybe you can think over.

Buy some 2 inch rock, or larger, line the bottom first with say 6 inches of sand and then a few inches of the large rock. I'd think that would fix the bad vis and give you a good pond for diving in?
