First Deep Night dive off a Boat

This space reserved for a dive report for my first deep (for me) night dive from a boat. We will be hitting the schooner rigged sailing canal boat O.J.Walker. She sits in about 67' of water and mostly intact. I am very psyched.........

All I can say is WOW! I have been on this particular wreck in the day time as described in this thread. As amazing as my first visit to this wreck was diving her a night added a whole new level of amazing. As he went down intact an upright (after flipping over 360 to port once before settling down) in about 60-70' of water there is still plenty to see! Most striking for was the ghostly silhouette of her two masts folded over one another and reaching off into the darkness. In addition ascending up the stern and seeing the still mostly intact spoked helm back lit in an otherwise completely dark seascape was breath taking. This was defiantly one of my diving highlights of the summer!

I love diving a wreck at night. Loads of fun.

Never done a night dive as of yet, looks freaky but in a good way.

actually I (an many other divers) find it to be very much the opposite. I get better air consumption rates and am more relaxed during night dives. I highly recommend you give it a go and do an easy night dive to see what its all about!

I gotta agree. I find night dives relaxing. I was mildly anxious before my first one, it was a shore dive. But once we got underwater it was really nice. Diving wrecks at night lets you see them almost as a new wreck. I'm much more focused on each part I see because there are less distractions, so I tend to take a bit more time. I think everyone should try one at least once.

Yeah man, night diving is cool! Did a night dive in a thunder storm once (not on purpose) and the flashes of lightening were awesome!

I think that's my favorite type of diving! Thanks for sharing the photo and the report.

Haven't made a night dive yet. Want to do so very much. I work evening and most night dives around here are during the week. Guess that I will have to set it up myself to make it happen.
    Thanks for the nudge.
