Family Friendly - Shore diving or Short boat rides

We have a 14 month old child and are looking for an Asian diving holiday with short boat rides/shore dives froma child friendly resport/town. Half day or full day trips mean wife and I cannot dive togeather and that sucks! We are based in Sydney so Asia seems sensible as we want something exotic.. We are both expewrienced divers (250+) so something varied would be good.

Maldives sounds perfect for you. You will be at a resort (there are maybe 80 to 100 self-contained resorts each on thier own island) and there is always shore diving available. Boat dives go out for one dive only--usually one in the morning and one in the afternoon, so you could split up for those. You'd all be together for meal times and beach/pool time throughout the day.
