    Question Marker Lights??

I have an upcomming night dive and I dont have a markerlight. To save money we have opted for a glow stick type light. Is there a difference between the sticks at the dive store vs. dollarstore except cost?

The Dollar store's are cheaper, that's about it.

I once saved a man in Wichita just to watch him dive...(inventor)

No difference! Buy 'em at dollar store.

If you have an Academy sport store near you they sometimes have sales in their fishing department. You can get the sticks in 4 or 5 different colors for less than a buck apiece. At night I usually put on a orange one and my fiance gets a red one. Everyone else is yellow. That way I can pick her out in a crowd. You can also get those little Pelican pen flashlights, the kind that screw to turn on at Academy very cheap. They only last a couple of years but great when you don't want to use your Hollywood opening search light to just check your computer.

Yes there is a difference in quality, but shelf life, extra brightness and long burn times (unless you're planning to spen 6+ hours night diving) aren't really an issue for your application so go for it.

Use a yellow or green stick and if with several divers everyone uses a different color, that way you know who is over there and so on. The reds seem to get muted a lot quicker in the water.

I have never seen a difference and second the choice on dollar general. Target usually closes them out in July for a pretty cheap buy as well. I try to always have a couple spares, just in case.

I usually buy them when I find a sale and usually a box of them. I keep them in my 4 wheel drive and in all the cars and of course on my boat. A light source is needed at the most unpredictable times.

I was stoked to find a bag of 50 sticks for $20 bucks at our party store....they are just as bright and last as long as the official "dive glo sticks" that cost 3-5 bucks each!
