Getting certified in pudget sound area.

Is sound dive the best place, if not what are other options?

The sound has some great places to dive, some are fairly shallow and if you time things right, there is minimal current. It's been more than a while since I dove the sound and Straights of Jaun De Fuca. There can be some vicisous currents in spots so you have to watch out.

IRT OW in the sound, I wouldn't be too worried, you instructor and DW will do their best to ensure a safe area for the OW. They will also give a pre-dive brief that should include hazards and the best way to do hazard mitigation.

I once saved a man in Wichita just to watch him dive...(inventor)

If I lived in that area, I'd only get trained by one guy.

    Bob Bailey.

    Not sure what that means?

That's NWGratefulDiver from ScubaBoard, DiveMatrix and a few other scuba-related boards. Great resource, fantastic instructor who goes WAY above and beyond standards.

I think Bob has taken time off from teaching but here's an excellent resource for that area.

If he's not teaching (and now that I think about it, you may be right), I'm sure he can recommend a good local alternative.

    It's priceless.

(Quality instruction should matter more to you than cost. Seriously. Especially for someone who will be diving in cold dark Northern waters.)

(And I have no idea, but whatever it is, it's worth it. I've considered flying my wife up for her advanced course.)
