    The Titanic

Does anyone have any interesting information or websites concerning the "The Titanic"? I am thinking about doing some research on it.

Thanks for the info! I have the movie that was made with Leonardo. I am not necessarily looking for artifacts. I am more interested in the people, the living and the dead.

That link should work out for you then. Ididn't surf around too much but it appears to have information on every aspect including crew and passengers.

Good luck....nothing like a little light reading.

My understanding is that the last living survivor died sometime in the last year or so -- woman who was apparently approximately 6 to 10 years old at the time. I could be wrong, or perhaps just misremembering, though.

Correction: the late Lillian Asplund was the last US survivor of the Titanic sinking. There are two others in their 90s still in England.

As far as the movie's fabulous necklace, the Heart of the Sea, that was pure Hollywood fiction. The most valuable piece of jewelry -- which did not go down with the Titanic -- was a pearl necklace that has happily been worn by the granddaughter or great-granddaughter of the woman who inherited it from her mother, who was a survivor.

There is currently an exhibit of Titanic artifacts here in Denver. There is a bunch of links on their site.

I am seriously thinking about trying to run the family trees of some of the people on the ship. I would love to be able to find same real facts about the actual sinking.
