Long Hose on the Abyss - how to?????

I want to change the hose on my Abyss. I already have the adapter to go from 1/2" to 3/8". Several questions come to mind:

Will I sacrifice breathing ease going to the smaller adapter/hose?
How do I change the hose? Do I need to remove the ring that is held in place with the phillips screw and do I void my warranty by disturbing the red paint seal.

    Thanks in advance.

Doesn't the adopter just screw into the 1/2" lp port. You should be fine with ease of breathing. Remember most regs use 3/8" with no problem.

Or call us up and get a 5 or 7 foot hose that is made for it, and not sacrifice the performance of the dfc port and the larger diameter hose.

Aww, that's what I was going to suggest Larry.

I once saved a man in Wichita just to watch him dive...(inventor)

    Hi Larry,

I was in the store a few weeks ago and was told that I would have to use the adaptor, so I picked up a 5' hose and the adaptor. I just don't know how to remove the current hose, because of the hose protector that is attached on the 2nd stage.

You just slide the hose protector down the hose to access it. Put a wrench on it and unscrew the hose.

That is how all my other regs are. This one has the plastic shroud locked in place by the metal ring which is clamped on using a phillips screw that has the factory paint seal on it. I should also mention, for Larry's benefit, that I purchased a 5' Miflex a few weeks ago.

It's not obvious but the hose protector just slides on and off, just kind of pull it down and pull/push hard on it.
