underwater, that is.

Is there anything you've found underwater, maybe stuffed in a BC pocket and forgot about, that you really wished you hadn't?

On occasion I find garbage underwater - rusty cans, bottles, etc. and will pocket them and take them back to the boat and dump them in the rubbish. On one occasion I found a plastic bag and pocketed it without much thinking about it. Later in the day I found that it was still in my BC pocket and that it contained a fully loaded diaper... The decontamination process was extensive.

Surely I'm not the only one that pocketed a diaper. Come on, people. Give us your worst.

I once rolled down a hill with packets of grape jelly in my
pockets. But I am curious what might be worse than the
diaper...gross.

<DIV>I think you are the only one. And it doesn't get any worse than that. We've seen diapers (among other things) but we never pick them up... ugh.</DIV>

Arrrrghhhh!! And it's always the days the viz is poor that you find the most unsavory items. I'd have to go with "sanitary napkin". And I DID NOT pocket the thing.

I can't even imagine how big a diaper would be underwater. After seeing one of my sons after a night's sleep, I'm not too sure they can get much bigger.

Not me, but I saw a women find a fishing lure on the bottom. She put it
in her BC pocket- "cleaning up". Good idea, until I told her that the
hooks might puncture the rental BC she was wearing. She had a hell of a
time getting it back out- treble hooks don't like to let go.

I found some weird little spagetti looking things at the bottom of the quarry on my OW checkout dive. I reached down to feel it and see whatit was and was cofused when they desinigrated. A few weeks later i saw a walleye depositing more stringyfishbombs at the bottom of the lake for OW students to play with. NowI chucle to myself everytime i see fishpoop.

The military used to do target practice off south Florida in the 40's. I found a bowling pin shaded object with fins on the small end. I left it alone and swam away. He who looks and swims away, lives to swim another day :-)
