    Adding second strobe..YS-110 or YS-110a

Currently shooting with one YS-110 and looking to add a second to my rig. I've looked at the specs on both the 110 and 110a, and other than the 110a having a faster recycle time, and potentially better battery life, they are nearly identical. The 110a states that it has improved, and more reliable TTL function. My question is can the two be paired together? What problems could I have if I attempt to do so? If the 110a is not such a good idea to pair with the 110 then I guess I'll be looking for a good used 110.

    Boxer,

The 110 was replaced with the 110a because they were getting complaints with the TTL sync with some cameras. The 110a is basicly the same strobe with some improvements for this issue.

If you are looking at adding a second strobe with TTL you should check out the new S&S YS-01. It is a lot smaller and has the same recycle time, flash per charge, a slightly smaller coverage (100 vs 105) and color temp 5600k.

Could save you some $$.... What do you think?

Yeah, was familiar with some of the complaints regarding the 1st generation 110's. I've had mine for about 3 years now and haven't experienced those issues firsthand so have no complaints about it.

Posted my questions to the Sea & Sea rep on SB and they said no problems synching the 110 and 110a so most likely the YS-01 would also work fine with my current YS-110. Am currently looking and hoping to find a good used 110 or 110a but if I don't have any luck with that I'll most likely go with the YS-01.

    Thanks
