You know I have seen doctors for my back since I was 13. Probably 5 doctors and one surgeon. Not once have I heard it referred to as a spasm. After reading about it I am 90% sure that what happen last week. You would think the doctor would have been smart enough to figure it out Friday.

Tim, this is a cautionary note based on watching my mom, who suffers from chronic back spasm pain. She is also "big," maybe not as big as you, but she weighs in at about 220, which for a woman is quite substantial. Her condition only gets worse with time and repeated injury, which is not too hard when you're big and put a lot of repetitive strain on those back muscles over decades by simply living--sitting down and standing, lifting objects, the occasional near-mishap like nearly falling, tripping on a stair step, etc., not to speak of actual injuries like the one you experienced in your tub fall (my mom fell out of bed recently and re-injured her back). At this point in my mom's life, simply lying down and trying to sleep is painful--forget getting on a plane to visit her kids/grandkids/great grandkids, or even lifting a bag of groceries out of the trunk of a car. She is becoming more and more helpless, and more and more depressed about her helplessness.

Listen to the others and spare your back until it heals properly. You're still young, and you don't want to wind up in a wheelchair before your time because you didn't take care of your back by giving yourself a few weeks of rest when you needed it.

Spasms are almost always your body telling you that you have damaged tissue and to back off. When you get one, best to not push the issue. I personally suffer through them now after a nasty incident with an anti-inflammatory which will often mask a real problem. Back and joint problems are not to be trifled with. Every decade you add in years those issues not dealt with properly will pay you back with a very hefty interest.

Rest and recover otherwise you may shorten your diving. I certainly have shortened my motorcycling due to pushing through the pain and medicating for years.
