NC wreck Diving, Trip Report, July 2010

All of you stateside Wreck Divers.... check out my trip report, photos, and videos from our NC trip last month. We had a great time, only got to dive 2 days, but it is a destination we are already planning a return trip. WWII wrecks, u-boats, best wreck diving in the US if you are into history and want to do dives in recreational depth limits.

Great Report Robin.....NC is my favorite diving on that side of the continent, much better diving than anything I have done in the Caribbean.....but I've fed the fish before...If those waters were calmer...I'd be heading there instead of Kona next week!

We had people feeding the fish on the boat each day, but not us. Some people were wearing patches and I am sure some were taking meds. I didn't hear anyone complain about it really, though a few people did not dive the second day (people we saw very ill) so I am guessing it was too much for them. I think you should go back. It is so awesome having WWII wrecks, sunk by u-boats during the war, right there for us to dive!!!! And the fishlife was incredible, too.

I agree about the diving.... It ranks up there on the list, for me, with Calif and Palau. World Class Diving, IMHO.

We enjoyed the trip so much that we are now trying to put together a Group Trip there for next summer, between June and Aug. We want to book 5-6 days of diving and if we can get 10+ people we can determine where the boat goes. Plan is to hit WWII wrecks, the u-boat, etc. All dives will be in recreational depth but some will be 100-130' range, maybe a few of the long-distance wrecks that they don't usually dive. We'll probably book with either Discovery or Olympus, as they have more than one boat.

If any of you are interested, let me know! Must have AOW or above in training plus experience with Deep diving, current, and like to be on a boat all day long.

Great report Robin. The funny thing is my wife and I were diving the same wrecks with Olympus the very next week. Do you recognize this guy from the Indra?

Thanks for the report and pictures. Very well done.
NC is someplace that I have never dove, but will.
If you want WWII wrecks, you may want to consider the Pacific. You said that you are on the west coast. Travel should not be too unreasonable.
