I imagine you could find buddies at CSSP. That is not too far.

    I feel your pain.

I'm from Okc and have no dive buddies (and no car). It seems like the only times I can go diving is when I book a trip to Cozumel.

I feel a trip coming up though just don't know the dates yet
I have dis... disleck... dyslec... I give up... I can't spell!

    Welcome to the forum!

Between the DWDS and the DDCN groups, I bet you could find people diving most weekends. Just let people know that you need a dive partner, and to let you know when they are going out. You will probably have to drive to Missouri or Texas to meet others, but there are times we actually dive in OK too.

I'm out of diving for a while for financial reasons, but if you stay active on the forum, I'll let you know when I hit the lakes or quarries again.

The Tulsa Aquanauts also has a few members down your way. Or you could always join us at Tenkiller or Beaver if you don't mind driving a little farther.

It takes some effort. We have an ocean here, but buddy selection to me is very important. I finally have a nice cadre of go to dive buddies from all sorts of different sources and it has taken a couple of years to find the good ones. They key is to show up at anything and everything to meet divers. I met some through a local diving group a couple of years ago at a NYD gathering and have stayed active with that group, some I met at a dive shop gathering over Christmas, some I met via an online group, some I have met through Scuba board. I have had to make myself show up for things that weren't exactly my thing (quarry diving) with the purpose being to network with other divers. It has been a good strategy. Good luck, there are a lot of you out there!

so whats the story on the aquanauts...im still tryin to find a dive buddy and although i VERY much agree with lulubelle's post about buddy selection (firm believer in someone who will watch my back instead of me having to watch my back if you know what i mean) its getting to the point i guess i am going to have to leave my comfort zone and hope for the best. thanks for the post replies guys...it makes a difference knowing that there are SO many people active in diving!

The Aquanauts are a great group. I joined even though I'm in the DFW area. I wanted friends to hook up with when diving at Tenkiller with my newly certified bud whose in the Tulsa area.
