    Conservation Conversation

Couldn't really find a thread where this fits, so figured I'd start a thread like the one on our local site. Just a place for posting tidbits about critters, issues, the Garbage Patch, and such. Without cluttering up the joint with a new thread for anything that doesn't fit elsewhere.

This one is about the rise in jellyfish populations, and yeesss... it's us.

What flavor are freshwater jellies? Grape? Strawberry? Sand Plum?

I once saved a man in Wichita just to watch him dive...(inventor)

The article mentions the blooms may be caused by us moving around invasive species, warming, pollution and run off causing blooms in their food supply.

Well we know man made warming is a hoax and I supect the jellies are too. I suppose time will tell as more "scientific" studies are done.

Not gonna argue dogma with you, you're wrong on both counts. Go argue in another thread. This one is about critters, the garbage patch and such.

This story is about the Gulf oil spill contaminating the food chain. The higher in the food chain, the higher the concentrations.

"Contaminated" is a bit strong, as the article says that only the non-toxic carbon components were measured, and that by late September all levels were back to normal. In fact, the article makes no mention of higher concentrations higher up in the food chain, except the ending question...and, that was just a question, not a statement of fact...a speculation to be researched next season. I don't doubt that there are effects on the food chain, but it's a stretch to extrapulate what you are saying from that article.

I see, you get to have your opinion and no one else gets to have theirs if they disagree.

Nope, you don't get away that easy. If you post some drivel expect to be called to task. The facts don't seem to get in your way. You believe in what ever you want and I will support your right to do so; but, don't expect me to leave this thread just because you don't like what I say. I respect your posts and I expect the same courtesy. Global warming is a hoax that's been well debunked; and the jellies, well, we don't have enough scientific studies yet to make a reasonable assumption. I think you should consider all view points and keep an open mind before making your decisions. After all, look how long it took us to convince people that the earth is round.
