Do not think so. My second instructor told me I must have huge sinuses. Maybe true, but I think it is probably more to do with my neck muscles being wired in to a purge of sorts. When I lightly flex the muscles in my neck behind my ears I hear pops and clicks. Maybe there is a hole somewhere else in my sinus cavity. For some reason I do not understand it seems to work on its own. Wish I could package it up and sell as my wife often struggles on back to back dives to keep clear.

I always equalize constantly on the way down.

I blow some bubbles and equalize on the way up also.

I use to feed the fish whenever I surfaced, so I would eat crackers or something easy to barf.

Now that I equalize when surfacing, I do not feed the fish anymore. Also I do not have anymore squeaking noises or snapping shrimp noises.

I do not pinch my nose. I think I use a modified Frenzel. Back of tongue to rear and throat muscle plus some light blowing.

Well, a blessing for my teeth not rotting from stomach acids.

I spotted some big Lingcod from the surface, but it was probably due to the stringer of bloody fish not the convulsions I would go through. Rockfish do like crackers though. And would sometimes swarm.
