Never been there...if I'm that close to Bonaire, that's where I'm going. Good question, was wondering also.

I have been to Aruba 5 times. I always use Romeo at Native Divers www.nativedivers.com He has a 32' Sea Ray and only takes 6 or 7 divers out at a time. There are a lot of wrecks to dive in Aruba and some good reefs at the south end. I have heard that there has been a lot of storms go through and the vis is down to less than 50 feet. It might be back to normal by the time you get there, but I would check it out. www.arubabound.com is a good website about Aruba.

Or go to Curacao and say yo to the kid.

If you like the night life, like to boogie on the disco floor and get all funky then Aruba may be the place. If you are looking for primarily a dive vacation Bonaire and Curacao for diving.
    IMHO! look I put "IMHO"!!
There are still lots of clubs and such topsde on those two islands as well.

IMHO- I have to disagree. I have been to Aruba 5 times and will go back. I haven't been to Curacao but have been to Bonaire once and probably won't be going back.

We had good luck using SEAruba Fly 'n Dive SEAruba Fly 'n Dive - diving in the Dutch Carribbean. Did some very nice reef and wreck diving while we were there. My favorite was the wreck of the Antilla.

I know you said IMHO but have you been to Bonaire? Where are the "lots of clubs" you talk about?
If you get confused listen to the music play.
To much of everything is just enough.

Also what gear would you recommend taking, mostly Im wondering if I need to bring a suit or is it warm enough to dive in swimming shorts?
