    How good is Catalina?

I am new to the SCUBA world and have been skindiving the channel islands my whole life. How does diving Catalina match up with the rest of the world?

I dove there last Fall, and enjoyed it a lot. The water is cold, but you are from that part of the world and know that already. Those of us from OK did laugh a little that it was like diving at home. It was cold, there were treelike objects to avoid (the kelp) and in some places some big blocks of concrete had been dumped. What I like most was seeing a different variety of fish than I usually see in the Caribbean.

I dive Catalina often. The point is very good. If you dive with a charter use Catalina Diver Supply on the Green Pier. Tell them you would like to dive Torqua Springs. Never a disappointing dive. Sea life is abundant. Kelp is awesome to dive through and you can take your time and enjoy the reefs.
