? on advanced classes and fills

When you all take a class through your dive shop above AOW do they supply the air for you to use during the class or do you have to pay for it?

Our local facilities expect you to provide your own gear and fills.

Like many things, the answer is that depends on the shop.

One really good method to find out for certain is to ask them prior to taking the class.

    haha yeah i know
Most shops around here will only give fills for pool work, anything OW and you are expected to provide your own gear/gas whether it be your own gear or rental.

For courses that require pool sessions we supply the air and gear if needed. When the OW dives come you need to provide the required equipment buy owning or renting.

With our LDS the air is free and the equipment rental is free as long as you are doing a class, doesn't matter if a OW, AOW, Nav, or even photo class. Most of the cert like PPB, recovery, photo, and etc are 125.00. Now if we go to the lake the equipment and tank rental is free all weekend but if you doing fun dives that you have to pay for your own air. Nitrox cost even in class but that is the only exception.

Our shop provides the air and a shop tank if you prefer but you need your own other equipment.

Thanks for the info in this thread. Very helpful. My LDS generally requires your own equipment for anything other than OW but they can be bargained with if purchasing other equipment, doing additional courses, etc.
