Would a led maglite work as a dive light?

you have to get a 'dive' light, it has o rings in it that prevent water from getting into the battery compartment. water and batteries do not mix well. a mag light would last about ten minutes in ten feet of water.

Yes. But only once, and very briefly.

You're best off getting a dedicated dive light that's not going to leak and die within .5s of hitting the water.
I like the Intova Compact, but there's plenty of good small lights out there.
Some franchises just never make it... CSI:Wagga Wagga was one of them.

Yes, with a number of modifications. Those mods would not be cost effective unless you can machine parts.

Yes all answers were good, just getting started trying to find some starter gear.

I also like the Intova Compact. It's a good inexpensive starter light. I use one for a primary light.
