    Komodo Indonesia on the Arenui

Returned a couple weeks ago, finally getting around to posting some pics. Komodo was fabulous - you have everything from black sand muck dives, 150' visibility blue water dives with lush reefs, to some incredible reefs down at Rinca but a little cold. Here are a few of my favorites from the trip:

I've lived in McKinney for 16 years - unbelievable amount of change. I think current estimate is 150,000 people - was 35,000 when I moved here. Most change has been good - but too many cars for the roads we have : ( Would be perfect if we just had some mountains and an ocean a little closer LOL.

The following three shots were all on the last dive of the trip - Seraya Secrets (Tulamben Bali)

Hey Dave - been a few years since our trip on the MV Odyssea I - that was a great trip. This was my 2nd "career" blue ring - first was in Lembeh. They are amazing critters - I was ecstatic when Alli found this one. I had my 10-17 Tokina WAL on at the time - so the BRO was basically touching my camera dome when I took this shot - a little scary having your hands a couple inches from one of the most venomous creatures in the ocean - but what the heck; you only live once!!! Here is a picture a little earlier in the sequence before he got upset enough to "light up" his rings...

Great pics. How was the Arenui I've heard good reviews. Does Ali still have the great laugh?
If you get confused listen to the music play.
To much of everything is just enough.

The Arenui is a very nice liveaboard - I highly recommend it. Ali (and yes, he still has the laugh) and Tobey are world class guides - tell them what you want, and you'll probably get it. They literally found everything I asked for except a wonderpus. We saw all the great macro critters (xeno, zebra, and boxer crabs; coleman, crinoid, and tiger shrimp; elegant and hairy squat lobsters; many octopus and cuttlefish including blue ring; ornate and halimeda ghost pipefish, mushroom coral pipefish, thorny and pygmy seahorses, tons of fish including 2 pinnate batfish, juvenile sweetlips, stonefish, scorpionfish, lionfish, leaffish, cockatoo waspfish, pegasus sea moth, titan and clown triggers, schools of Jacks, tuna, barracuda, all the usual reef fish (butterflies, angels, wrass, anthias, gobies, blennies, etc), several sharks and mantas on 4 different dives.

The crew is very attentive (21 crew for 16 guests), food is excellent, and the cabins roomy with nice beds. Gerry and Debbie (cruise directors) are awesome - they do everything to make your cruise as carefree as possible. You never touch your gear (if you don't need to) once you arrive on board. The staff meets you ladder when you return from a dive - fresh towel in hand. Hot washclothes and hot chocolate also when you get back from a night dive. Plenty of hot water for showers after each dive. both 110 and 220 AC on board (most outlets are 220 - you need 2 prong round adapters). Highly recommended. The Arenui isn't cheap- but overall a good value for the combination of diving and service you receive.
