    We're Moving to NW Ohio

My wife got a great promotion at work. We're moving from SE Louisiana to NW Ohio.

Maybe I'll start futzing with dry suit diving - we'll be near Gilboa Quarry.

Good luck Rorschach, have a safe move.

Gilboa, huh? Get your Dry suit! You shouldn't be that far from Lake Erie too, I've heard there's good diving there now as well.

I once saved a man in Wichita just to watch him dive...(inventor)

Thanks folks. I bought a dry suit when we lived in NE Ohio but I've never made a dive with it.

I also have a Scubapro MK 18 regulator in my assorted dive equipment that should work fine for cold water diving.

Disposable contact lenses are getting less comfortable for me to wear, so it's time to get a prescription bifocal dive mask and a second mask with gauge readers as a back-up I could wear with disposable contact lenses. My prescription changes have become more in line with minor tweaks the past few years.

I understand average quarry vis is low relative to warm water sea diving so I'll need every bit of help!

Yep, the vis is a lil less LOL. Try white star for better vis. Lake Huron and Erie, also Michigan are a short hop from NW OH. The rivers in MI are also pretty fun dives. Congrats on the switch to colder waters!

Welcome to great Midwest diving! It has been a great winter so far, above average temps, very little snow, and the water temps aren't too bad, at least not yet.

Congrats on the work improvement... not sure about the scenery change though. Wife's family is in the Brunswick, Cleveland, Columbus areas which they like but I have never really been a fan of prolonged visits north of Kentucky. Some great deals on homes up there though and living can be pretty cheap.

Oh and The West Side market is definitely worth a visit. Love that place.

Thanks y'all for the warm welcome to the colder climate. We're moving to Findlay, about half way between Lima and Toledo.

We'll be about 2 hours from either Detroit or Columbus (nearest decent commercial airports) and 2.5 hours from Cleveland.

Which city has The West Side Market?

Moving to Findlay is going to be a problem....you are about 30 minutes from Gilboa Quarry and under an hour to White Star and Portage Quarries, then a little farther north is Lake Erie and even farther north is Lake Huron. I am a fortune teller, and I can see a lot of diving in your future.

It really is worth the visit one day when you have time despite the long drive.
